I’ve shared the installation steps for Oracle Linux 7.4 operating system on Oracle’s free virtualization product, VirtualBox Manager, with you. Oracle Linux is a highly stable and stable operating system designed for its own database, Oracle Database. Does not require any license.

Before setting up the virtual machine, we need to download the Oracle Linux 7.4 ISO file from Oracle eDelivery. Then, we can proceed with the virtual machine installation.

Start the Oracle Linux virtual machine installation by clicking on the “New” option in VirtualBox Manager.

Next, we configure the necessary fields for our virtual machine (such as the name, directory, and type) as follows. In the “Version” section, we select the bit version of the downloaded ISO file.

We allocate a minimum of 2048 MB of RAM to the virtual machine, but this can vary based on your server or computer specifications. Adjust the RAM and CPU according to your environment requirements.

Here, we select the “Create a new virtual hard disk” option and click “Next”. Alternatively, you can skip this step and configure the disk after creating the machine

In this step, we choose the disk type.

We select “Dynamically allocated”. With this option, The disk will only use space based on stored data, not the initially allocated size.

We specify where to save virtual disk files and set the disk size. Adjust based on your environment’s needs.

We configure the other settings of the virtual machine from the “Settings” section.

Shared Clipboard: Enables text or data sharing between the virtual machine and the host operating system. The Bidirectional feature allows data transfer from both the host OS to the virtual machine and vice versa.

Drag and Drop: Allows you to drag and drop files between the virtual machine and the host operating system.

In the “System” section, we can again specify our RAM and CPU requirements. We remove the floppy disk option and select the hard disk, moving it to the top.

Next step, we load the ISO file we previously downloaded. You can find the Oracle Linux 7.4 ISO file on the Oracle eDelivery website via Google.

We configure the network settings. Bridged Adapter provides direct network connection with our computer, granting access to the internet.

After clicking OK, our settings will be configured. We can now start our machine. The first screen will prompt us to select the language settings. We can search for other languages in the search box.

Below, we’re configuring general machine settings.

In the “Date & Time” section, we select our current region and city. This will configure our time settings.

We can add keyboard layouts here. I additionally added the Turkish keyboard layout.

The necessary packages are selected.

We can configure our network settings and set a static IP address from the “Configure” section.

By selecting the “Automatically connect to this network when it is available” option, the virtual machine will automatically have internet access when it is started.

We set our root password and create a user.

We accept the license agreement and select “Finish Configuration” to complete our installation.

We have completed the installation process of Oracle Linux 7.4 operating system. I hope it helped you! linkedin to contact me.
Best regards!
